Diagnostic Hearing Tests are a highly detailed study of your hearing, providing evidence for the cause of your hearing loss, whether it's the ear canal, middle ear or inner ear or in the brain or auditory neural pathways.

 

Your audiologist can then refer you to a GP or medical specialist (through your GP) or tell you whether you'd benefit from hearing aids or other rehabilitation, or provide information about hearing protection. 

 

This 45 minute service costs $200 and includes plenty of time to ask any questions about your hearing loss. 

 

This Diagnostic Hearing Assessment includes:

  • Bone conduction audiometry where we use a special headphone that vibrates sound painlessly through the bones of the skull indicating any blockages in the outer or middle ear not picked up by other tests.
  • A detailed study of how your middle ear functions and any fluid in the ear or blockage of the Eustachian tubes.
  • Air conduction audiometry, where we record the softest sounds you can hear at each pitch through headphones.
  • Analysing your ability to hear and understand speech.
  • A detailed explanation and discussion of these results with enough time to answer any of your questions.
