Siemens Hearing Aids

Siemens is a well know producer of electronic equipment in almost all industries. Their hearing aid section makes up about 1% of their turnover. Siemens hearing aids are designed in Germany and produced in Asia. Siemens often innovates with new technologies and were the first company to introduce basic wireless capability into hearing aids with ear 2 ear. This allowed the hearing aid user to make changes in volume or programs in one hearing aid and the other hearing aid would respond in the same way wirelessly.

Siemens's latest innovation is a waterproof hearing aid called Aquarius. This is an over the ear style hearing aid, without any controls that you can use when working in extremely dusty or humid conditions. People even go surfing with these aids on. They have been shown to be waterproof to a depth of 1 meter for 30 minutes.

Siemens Australia is located in Brisbane.

Latest Siemens Hearing aids

Siemens has made a lot of headlines with their release of the Aquarius 701 and Aquarius 501 water proof and dustproof hearing aids in the latter part of 2011. These hearing aids promise improved reliability to those working in very humid or dusty environments and were even tested by people who swam and surfed while wearing them. These hearing aids have been rated to withstand up to 8 hours in extremely dusty environments and survive being submersed up to 1m deep under water for a duration of 30 minutes. In order for Siemens to provide such reliability, the Aquarius 701 and Aquarius 501 needs an annual service to replace the waterproof seals and microphone covers as well as to check the integrity of these waterproof and dust proof hearing aids.

Phonak has also released their own version of waterproof and dust proof hearing aids with their release of the H20 range of hearing aids. They have been rated to the same standards as the Siemens Aquarius hearing aids and is a welcome addition so people can have better choice of brands.
